Breastfeeding . Why Human milk is irreplaceable?

World Breastfeeding Week  1–7 August 2011

World Breastfeeding Week is celebrated every year from 1 to 7 August in more than 120 countries to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world. It commemorates the Innocenti Declaration made by WHO and UNICEF policy-makers in August 1990 to protect, promote and support breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is the best way to provide newborns with the nutrients they need. WHO recommends exclusive breastfeeding until a baby is six months old, and continued breastfeeding with the addition of nutritious complementary foods for up to two years or beyond.

Introduction to Breastfeeding

Breast milk is thought to be the best form of nutrition for neonates and infants. The properties of human milk facilitate the transition of life from in utero to ex utero. This dynamic fluid provides a diverse array of bioactive substances to the developing infant during critical periods of brain, immune, and gut development. The clinician must be familiar with how the mammary gland produces human milk and how its properties nourish and protect the breastfeeding infant.

Libido and Aphrodisiacs (I)

I. Libido

  • what is libido
  • why it is low
  • how we can improve it
Libido is the term that the noted founder of psychoanalysis, Sigmund Freud, used to label the sexual drive or sexual instinct. He noted that the sexual drive is characterized by a gradual buildup to a peak of intensity, followed by a sudden decrease of excitement.
As he studied this process in his patients, Freud concluded that various activities like eating and drinking, as well as urination and defecation share this common pattern. Consequently, he regarded these behaviors as sexual or libidinous as well.
Freud also became interested in the development of the libido, which he saw as the basic and most powerful human drive. He believed that the development of the libido involved several distinct and identifiable stages.
Learn more about Freud's theory on how libido develops in the next section.
  • During infancy, he noted, sexual drive is focused on the mouth, primarily manifested in sucking.

PRILIGY-a drug designed to prevent premature ejaculation

The wait is over for British men who want a pill that should help them last a lot longer. Priligy, a drug designed to prevent premature ejaculation, launched in the country this week, reports the Daily Mail. When taken 1 to 3 hours before sex, the pill has been shown to help the men who suffer from the condition last three times as long. By adjusting serotonin levels in the brain.

Priligy gives men more control over when they climax—and that increased control can last up to 24 hours, a detail that might make the price tag easier to justify: The drug goes for about $40 per pill.
